How can I use Private Health Insurance

We are approved as a preferred provider by all Private health insurance providers and we adhere to their rates.

  • You may have an excess on your policy though;  and they will indicate whether this is payable to us.
  • To explain the billing process, when a patient attends a private hospital, two invoices are normally raised. Consultants are self-employed/self-accounting and their secretaries raise their own invoices for consultation and procedure fees. In addition to consultant invoices, the Hospital invoices for the services provided i.e. X RAYS, blood tests, testing, consumables etc. If you have an excess on the policy; sometimes this might mean 2 part payments ( as there might be a part payment to the hospital and part payment to the consultant ).
  • Our consultation fees don't change regardless of where you see us; but its possible some of the Hospitals on the list above may not be covered by your insurance company,  so best t check with them first.
  • Some insurance policies may have quite a generous allowance for investigations and others may have a limit. If in dubt; its best to check with the nursing team at the Hospital where you are being seen;  who can then give you an estimate for the cst of any tests requested.

How can I get an urgent appointment?

As we normally deal with complex patients often already seen by a GP,  other Paediatricians, it might be a week before you get an appointment.

  • We always prioritise our existing patients and ususally manage to fit them in a 48 hour window where possible.
  • For new patients,  we suggest you get a referral from your GP or copy of a clinic letter from your previous paediatric appointment ( if relevant ). This helps us access any previus tests that your child may have had; so these don't need repeating.
